If 2023’s viral single ‘Toothache’ was the springboard, Westislonely’s new EP ‘Man’s Ruin’

lays the claim for her rockstar power. After a turbulent personal year following 2025’s debut

EP ‘Even A Worm Will Turn’, the 21-year-old has swapped Leeds for her Manchester roots

and supercharged its follow-up with larger-than-life production and stark, vulnerable lyricism.

“I love the anger of punk, the joy of pop,” West says of her strikingly broad taste: modern

visionaries FKA Twigs and Magdalena Bay plus 1960s icons like The Doors and The Velvet

Underground. The EP’s emo-tinged songwriting is reflective of her life experiences – an

eating disorder, toxic relationship and neglected friendships – and her core identity. “I do

gravitate towards heavier, darker sounds, because I’m a slightly gloomy individual.”
