Luke Black is combining the theatrical and melancholic in a gleaming approach to alternative pop. The independent, London-based Serbian star has built a creative paradise over a few years of bathing in the local musical landscape, but their journey hasn’t been a smooth Lime bike ride down the river- there’s been a battlefield to navigate; expansive and emotional and riddled with negative voices from within and outside, and he has channelled it all through his transformative debut album, “Chainsaws in Paradise”, due in May 2024.

Luke landed in London in 2019. Seeking an outlet for a musical drive that felt stagnant and dissonant, he instantly found collaborators in the likes of producers Shurk, Majed and alone.nowhere, Luke developed a creative family in the people he met in clubs and underground gigs in dark, pulsating corners of the city. Though battling negative inner voices, the rough, tough and dramatic escape in the city allowed Luke to bring theatre and glitz to the Nu-Metal and Alternative sound he had grown up on. Listening to early mixes on e-bike rides around London, Luke’s journeys reflected the charged sound of his developing record. Luke has been inspired by his surroundings, developing a sound and artistic vision that is as expansive as London feels.

In 2023, Luke represented his home nation, Serbia in the renowned Eurovision Song Contest, a performance which catapulted him into the global spotlight. Luke’s critically acclaimed performance was favoured by features across the NME, BBC, NY Times, Pink News, and Radio Times.

Despite newfound fame, Luke remains committed to his artistic vision, connecting deeply with fans who eagerly anticipate his album’s release. “Chainsaws in Paradise” navigates themes of personal turmoil with divine inspiration, offering a cathartic experience for both Luke and his audience. As Luke prepares for the album’s launch, he remains dedicated to his community, promising a release campaign centred on fan engagement and live performances across the UK and EU. With its anthemic beauty and raw honesty, “Chainsaws in Paradise” heralds a new chapter in Luke’s artistic journey, promising an expansion of his paradise like never before.
