For LeoStayTrill, music was fated. Rapping since he was just 4 years old, leading school
performances by the time he was 9 and breaking the internet with a global hit before his 18th birthday,
there’s no doubt that this is what he was meant to do. “I feel like it’s always been God given for me to
be gravitating towards music,” he agrees. “Whether it’s music playing in the car and I’m learning all
the lyrics, spending hours and hours trying to figure out how to create my own, even at parties or
family get togethers, I was always the one that’s somehow performing for relatives, somehow getting
called to do something,” he laughs. He’d even get in trouble at school for daydreaming or writing bars
in the wrong place or at the wrong time. Born to Zimbabwean parents and raised in Bromley, South
London, at first his parents didn’t quite get it. But after seeing him performing to huge crowds while
still in primary school, it wasn’t long before they understood he was a natural. “Now they’re fully on
board,” he smiles.
