John Paul White was born and raised in Muscle Shoals, Alabama which explains his knack for deep soulful lyrics and complex melodies. As an artist, John’s music spans multiple genres, from rock to folk to country. It is this chameleon like quality of being able to adapt his music to multiple audiences that make him a true talent.
John Paul’s time in the folk duo The Civil Wars has yielded him countless praise from artists all across the musical spectrum from Taylor Swift to Paul McCartney. The partnership with Joy Williams has so far yielded a gold record in their first album Barton Holllow, as well as their self-titled sophomore album that has been selling very well since its release in August 2013. Their fantastic chart success has brought about multiple film/TV and movie placements as well.

In addition to being a former Capitol Records recording artist and member of The Civil Wars, John’s writing is what truly sets him apart. His collection of A-List co-writers includes but is not limited to Rob Thomas, Kara Dioguardi and Aimee Mayo as well as Hillary Lindsey, Craig Wiseman and Joe Don Rooney. Such high profile co-writes have yielded him numerous cuts including Rascal Flatts’ ‘Holes’, LeAnn Rimes’ ‘This Life’ and Jason Aldean’s, ‘Relentless’. His film and TV placements include Grey’s Anatomy, The O.C. and Flicka and he toured with artists such as Ziggy Marley, Pete Yorn, The Wailers, Mindy Smith, Seabird and Switchfoot.

Currently, John Paul is working with the band St. Paul And The Broken Bones who is signed to his record label Single Lock Records which he started with Alabama Shakes keyboard player Ben Tanner. Other artists signed to the label are Belle Adair and The Bear.

Whether in Muscle Shoals or in Music City, John Paul White will continue to produce hit songs both as a writer and as an artist. Such pure talent will continue to propel White to unimaginable levels of success.
