Rarely does a singer arrive on the scene fully formed, self-written and produced, with a sound all of his own which instantly connects with audiences in the way Glasgow’s Joesef has done.
Having only played his first ever live gig in April, Joesef rounded off 2019 with a sold out, 1300 capacity home town show and inclusion on the influential BBC Sound Of 2020 list, Joesef has quickly become a favourite of tastemakers at radio and press alike.
Joesef’s songs – such as debut single Limbo, BBC Radio 1 favourite Loverboy, and EP title track Play Me Something Nice – navigate feelings of first love and loss, including the breakdown of his first relationship, “and how complicated it became for both of us trying to navigate through life without each other.” Joesef adds, “it’s about a sort of nostalgia and love that continues to linger after the dust has settled.” The single itself “is about being lonely and seeking comfort in the familiarity of each other even though everything has fallen apart.”
This show was scheduled to take place at YES on 16 May 2021 and has moved to The Deaf Institute. All tickets remain valid.
