Dorks Home & Away: Vlure
4th September 2024 - 7:00 pm
The Lodge at Deaf Institute

VLURE defy the rules. With a determined honesty and a visceral vulnerability, the Glasgow five-piece blur the lines between genre. Theirs is a unique sound; laced with bold, synth-laden hooks, industrial guitars and club-influenced rhythms that are beautifully twisted around emotionally-confronting lyrics.

The band combine live electronics and modern production tech, with the striking performance sensibilities of their post-punk contemporaries. The live experience manifests as an intense and euphoric life-affirming display. This is the sound of coming of age in Glasgow; It is two brothers, with their three best friends, working endless, long days dreaming of something more. It’s the story of a gang finding themselves, and the people they love, in the city’s afterhours house parties and sticky, subterranean basement venues.

VLURE started the year as nominees for Reeperbahn’s prestigious Anchor Award for Best Live Act, namechecked on Dork’s Hype List and DIY Mag’s Class of 2023. The accolades have only continued to grow. The band were shortlisted as finalists at this year’s BBC Introducing Scottish Act of the Year award as well as runners-up in the Glastonbury Emerging Talent competition 2023.

Having headlined Vera at Eurosonic 2023, headlined two superb SXSW 2023 showcases, and notable bookings for BBC 6Music and PIAS at The Great Escape, VLURE hurtled headfirst into a standout festival season. There were four sets in four days at Glastonbury, European shows taking in London Calling, Foul Weather, Colours of Ostrava and more, before capping everything off with their largest UK headline tour to date in partnership with Music Venues Trust’s ‘Unite By Music’ collab with the National Lottery.

Heading into Q4, VLURE will release their highly anticipated single ‘Heaven Sent’, before honing away to work on their debut album. December will see them play their biggest gigs yet; London’s 100 Club on 4/12 and Glasgow’s SWG3 on 16/12.
