THURSDAY 24 MARCH

FROM THE DUSTY STREETS OF BOPHELONG

FREE ENTRY

Straight from the dusty streets of Bophelong to Grosvenor St through the vision of Nongi Oliphant aka SNO.

Here is her story -
"When I grew up in the township of Bophelong in the Vaal, South Africa, my uncle was the finest collector of Jazz, Soul, Afrobeat and Disco.

He suffocated me with tune after tune for years. When he sold his collection, I felt loss that I still haven’t felt to date.

Once I managed to get a proper turntable at home this year, I started collecting the very records my uncle sold, and more, as I have never stopped to learn about music."

On Thursday 24th March we welcome Cervo - Chris Knight of Banana Hill and Global Roots to join Nongi for a special evening in the Deaf Institute bar to celebrate the start of the Easter break playing JAZZ, SOUL, AFROBEAT, HIP HOP, LATIN, HOUSE. FREE ENTRY. 6pm - 2am All welcome to join the party.

Watch out for more BOPHELONG happenings here at Deaf Institute soon!
