The Aliens:The Aliens have history - between them they have been behind some of the most enthralling British music of the last decade. John Maclean and Robin Jones were members of the Beta Band, along with founding member Gordon Anderson who departed after the first EP release and went on to record two albums under the Lone Pigeon moniker. The three re-united in 2006 and embarked on a new musical adventure as The Aliens releasing the classic singles 'Robot Man' and 'Happy Song', and the stunning album Astronomy For Dogs, whilst touring extensively across the UK and USA throughout 2007.
The Aliens returned last Autumn with a brand new album on their own Pet Rock Records label. Luna picks up where their 2007 debut Astronomy For Dogs left off, and sees the band continuing to explore the outer limits of sunshine pop, psychedelic rock and acid dipped electronics. Recorded in an isolated, ramshackle studio in a small Scottish village, the band have embraced their freedom from the major record label machine, and delivered an album that manages to outshine their widely acclaimed debut.
"By rights, their arrival should create a Day The Earth Stood Still moment, aeons ahead of the competition. Breathless, revelatory & teetering on the brink of total collapse" Observer Music Monthlywww.thealiens.co.ukLemonade:Mary Anne Hobbs referred to them as "pure, agile, hedonistic pop music," and Pitchfork rated their debut at an 8.3. Over the course of their career they have been a fixture in San Francisco’s underground, playing everything from basement shows to warehouses, dance clubs to DIY venues, art galleries and rooftops and have toured with such acts as Tussle, El Guincho, and Glasser, as well as provided local support to Modeselektor, Crystal Castles, Buraka Som Sistema, Andrew W.K., Gang Gang Dance, and many more
